What Research Grade Actually Means

Purity, COA testing, and the difference between marketing language and laboratory standards. A primer for anyone serious about what they're handling.

When a vial says "research grade," it's making a claim. Sometimes that claim is backed by independent third-party testing. Sometimes it's just a label.

At G3, every batch ships with a certificate of analysis. That's not marketing — it's the only honest way to handle a research compound. The lab that prepared it tells you exactly what's in it, in what proportion, and at what purity.

Purity matters because contaminants matter. A 95% pure peptide isn't 5% wrong — it's 5% something else, and that something else changes the entire research signal. Below 98% is noise. Above 98% is data.

There's a second layer most labs skip: identity verification. Mass spectrometry confirms the molecule is the molecule. Without that step, purity is just a number for whatever happened to end up in the vial.

If you're reading this because you're new to the space — start by asking for the COA before anything else. Any lab worth working with will hand it over without hesitation.
